Aids Day

I never expected the action event to be this hard. I thought that fund raising was very easy and that it would only take you about ten minutes or less to plan the assembly and everything else. I have learned that it actualy takes weeks to plan it out and get organized. I was also supprized at how much money we raised. I thought that we would only rais about 3-4 hundred RM but we ended up raising over 2000RM.

I became an up stander, instead of being a by stander and educated the school about AIDS. The students who go to this school became more educated and could help others easily just with spare change. The world benefited from our action because we gave over 2000RM to aids which is enough money to give a person with AIDS medicine for 2 years.

My biggest highlight was counting the money. This may make me sound like I am a money fanatic or something but the reason I liked this was because I could see how much money was being donated. To me, it felt like everyone actualy cares about others, which would be one of our core values, kindness. Another highlight was being on stage because I felt good educateing others about aids and its global effect.

I will remeber being on stage the most because their is pressure on you and if you mess up, then you will be laughed at and maken a fool of. Another thing I will remember is the raffel. I won't remember the 'raffel' though. I will remember the people who didn't do the raffel. Even some people with tons of money in their wallets would walk up and ask "What prize do I get if I win?". After we tell them the prizes they say "What about the ipad?". After that we tell them that there is no ipad. Finaly, they will say "Not worth it." and walk off.

Next year I think that they should show the Annie Lennox videos in the assemblys and they during every assembly, there should be aids video. I think that they should also do a free dress day and give all the money that is raised to aids. Another cool thing to do would be a raffel to put make up on teachers.

I have learned three main things by doing this action progect. Number one, I have learned that doing an action progect is hard. Number two, I have learned that it is very hard to convice some people who don't have a heart to donate but it is easy for others with a kind heart to donate. Number three, I have learned alot about aids, how it works, how it can be treated but not cured, and much more.

I enjoyed the action project this year and I wish we could do them more often.

global issues

What is a global issue?
A global issue is something that is wrong and shouldn't be happening in the world.
Why should I care?
You should care because If you are currently reading this you are in the top 1% of the world because you have a computer. If you are in that top percent of the world then you are very lucky. But what about the other 99% of the world? They are mostly poor and homeless and can't afford medicine for if they are sick. Many are starving right now and don't have enough money to buy food. Think of the computer you are currently on. It probably costs over $1,000. if you donated that money to charity, you could give a child a good education, or feed a family for quite a while.
